I’ve been using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS for over a year now for any development work I do, primarily in Ruby or JavaScript for web applications. I often wonder if systems heavily depended on by developers, such as MongoDB, when supporting Ubuntu LTS, would also work with a flavour, though I’ve thought it too risky to try. Any thoughts or experience on this, anyone?
In my opinion, yes. I think any Ubuntu Flavour would be totally fine to use for development work because that is one of the best thing about the Flavours, as long as something is compatible with Ubuntu it is 99% compatible with a Flavour too. I only leave off 1% for those rare exceptions.
I would say that official Flavours are the only derivatives that can make that claim though because that wouldnt be true for Mint or elementary in the same percentage of confidence. They would likely still be compatible but with the official flavours absolutely.
