I have a nvme drive I’m not currently using. It’s also been cloned to hdd backup. Think I’ll give BlendOS a try soon as I can figure out how to turn off secure boot. It was greyed out the other day in the UEFI.
I’ll probably put Debian and Ubuntu containers in it.

Though perhaps a Vanilla OS deep dive is worth doing and then maybe a comparison. 
You’re welcome, I have been liking it and yea that changing the overlay threw me off too, which I realized the answer to the issue in the Tip of the Week regarding the “system” tool.

secondly, I did technically mention Bedrock since I compared blendOS to other distros that had done something like this before and I even described it as using chroots to accomplish it . . . I was describing Bedrock but it is true I didnt say the term Bedrock. 
Best part of blendOS is you can use whatever containers you want and even associate them as top level apps where it just automatically uses those apps regardless of which container they are in. It’s dope! Anyway, please return to this thread to let us know how it works for you.
Hey all!
Due to your glowing recommendation of Blend OS I decided to give it a spin today. I went with the KDE flavor, and I experienced one issue while trying to restore my files to the new Blend OS install; maybe you know why this happened to me.
When trying to restore my old files, I thought I’d use
rsyncbecause I like that it shows me progress, etc. When I tried to use it, I found that withsudoand even asrootI could not use rsync to restore my files. The error I see was that I did not have permission to change directory into my source folder (a mounted Vorta backup archive).I’ve restored my install on Fedora and Kubuntu without issue using Vorta’s mounted archives. Could this just be a Vorta permissions thing? I’m using the exact same user name and password for the new Blend OS install.
The other thought I had was that this had something to do with the read-only FS, but I had absolutely no trouble just dragging and dropping my files in Dolphin over to the
/homedirectory.Any thoughts are appreciated!
So far I found it super easy to get up and running on Blend OS, and the containers are a fascinating feature. I don’t have a complicated work flow, so everything I need (apart from like mpd and Cantata) are Flatpaks.
